Week 19 - This is One Work

                                                                                                                       June 8, 2015

Hello hello! So, we will be heading to Down Town this afternoon to go
to Ripley's Aquarium with the Etobicoke South sisters- Sister Maas and

Sister Mau! We are super excited! There is a ton I want to say, but so

little time! But, here we go!

So, this week was good! I have been continuously working on my bus

contacting, and talking to everyone. Sometimes, it is a struggle, and

then other times, not so much. But, it is a process! Yesterday, after

church, we were sitting on the bus, headed to try and drop by some

less active members. I was sitting there, and I just did not want to

do anything. Sundays as a missionary are often times more stressful
than they are enjoyable! It just comes with the job. I was just
stressed out, and had little to no motivation to work. Kinda sitting
in a "woe is me" state. And then, I did something I used to never do,
but have started doing more and more the past few days.. I got up from
my seat on the bus, and sat down next to someone, and started talking
to them. We had a short conversation about where they were from, then
I quickly shared a pass along card with them before they got off the
bus. Then, I moved, and sat down next to someone else, and started
talking to them. Then, after they left, I got up and sat next to
someone else, and after they left, sat next to someone else! It was
one of those "Aha!" moments. I forgot about myself, and became a
missionary, with the desire to talk to as many people as the Lord
placed in my path. The best part, it was fun! The other neat thing
that I realized last night, was this happened probably not more than
15 or so minutes after the Summerlin Ward started their Sacrament
Meeting. Why is this significant? Because at the beginning, they pray
for all the missionaries. Your prayers help. Every single one of them.
And I thank you all so much for your love and support! This work is
not easy, and knowing that everyone is helping, gives me great courage
and helps me to press forward!

Sunday ended up being the highlight of my week. We were also able to

attend a meeting in Brampton on Sunday night. We found out after we

got there that it was a General Priesthood meeting for the stake. I

love being a Sister Missionary! You get to see a sorts of cool things!

haha It was a great meeting though. They covered a ton of different

subjects, and I would love to share a few of the thoughts!

First, they talked about Institute. President Monson has urged us to

"make institute a priority in our lives" especially for young single

college students (cough cough Nate cough cough;)). They talked about

how important Institute is, and then transitioned into how important

it is to study the scriptures. The second councilor in the stake said,

"Scripture study has the power to bind us to our Heavenly Father." I
love this statement! It is so true. We need to be studying our
scriptures!

Next, they talked about the priesthood. But, they also talked about

the Priesthood for women. They shared some really neat thoughts. I

probably won't be able to convey them as powerfully or clearly as they

did, but I will attempt. They emphasized that Sisters have authority

given unto them. This is impart because they have been directed under

priesthood keys. We, as Sisters in the church, have authority. We
might not physically hold the priesthood, but, we can still call upon
the power of God when needed to bless the lives of others.

Then, they finished by talking about Missionary work for the living,

and Temple work for the living! ~Because it is for the living, it just

depends on where they are living! But, the prophet, in the First

Presidency Message of the church, has asked us to assissit in the

hastening of the work. This happens on both sides! So, we need to be

opening our mouths, but also doing our genealogy and family history
work! I imagine that missionary work on the other side of the veil
would be frustrating! You have a golden investigator, so ready to get
baptized, but no one has done their work, or even sought out their
name. So, they cannot progress, and are just stuck waiting! We need to
do our family history work, and go to the temple! :)

Our stake president, at the end, pulled up the Ontario Temple

President, as well as President Clayton, the mission president. It was

a cool visual as he explained the following. President Clayton hold

the priesthood keys for the missionaries in the area- keeping them

healthy, teaching them how to teach and so forth. The temple president

holds the keys for the temple- supplying the staff, the work behind
the operation, and so on. The stake president, however, holds the keys
for missionary work in the area. Not one of these could work without
the other. They all need each other! This is not my work. This is not
your work. This is the Lord's work, it is Our work, it is ONE work. We
all need to be involved in order for anything to go anywhere.

Sorry if it feels like I have been preaching! I just thought this was

such cool insight, and I wanted to share! In the mission, we are

really moving towards helping the members to understand that we, the

missionaries, cannot do anything without them! We come and go, but the

members stay! It is not just the missionaries job to teach and find,

but it is the members job as well!

A neat thought president Clayton shared with us a week ago is that our

purpose right now is to invite others to come unto Christ. Our purpose

when we go home will be to invite others to come unto Christ. Our

purpose days before we die will be to invite others to come unto

Christ. Our purpose on the other side of the veil will be to invite

other to come unto Christ. Continually inviting, all the time, now and
forever because this is what Christ himself would do. And, as members
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we strive to do
what Christ would do. It is part of the covenant that we made with our
Heavenly Father the day we were baptized.

How Great is Our Calling!

I love this work. I love being able to be a missionary. To wear the

name of my Savior, and your Savior's name each and every day. I know

that this Church is the Church of Jesus Christ restored to the earth.

I know that our Jesus Christ lives, and that as each of us strive to

follow His example, we will be happy. Live the gospel, have faith in

Him, endure to the end. That is what this time here on earth is all
about. I know this to be true.

I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Sister Robison

Family Letter, June already? Say what! and lots of pictures!

Hey hey! I love you all!

~how is the blog going? add these pictures please and thank you! :)

Mom, for the package, maybe send it to the mission office address.
Transfers will be next week and I am not sure what will be happening!
Unless it will be able to get here before next monday? Or just hold on
and I can tell you next week? Thank you for being so awesome! I love
you :) Thank you for your updates, and your thoughts in your letters!
I love it! Sounds like some great things are going on!

Karly! I am proud of you :) Dance is fun, but it sounds like you
weren't having fun. I believe you will enjoy this next year a lot
more! It will be a little hard at times, but, what I came to realize,
is that Dance is something that is fun for the time being, but in
reality, it will stop after schooling is over. Family time is so much
better, and so are so many other things! Play piano! Sing! Then, one
day when you are out on your mission, you will be able to play more
than 2 solid hymns :) (BTW, I do work on hymns when ever I get the
chance. There are like 3 or 4 that are getting pretty close to being
able to play when people sing! :) ) But, I am excited for you dear!

Kelly! I am glad you are enjoying summer! I love summer too! My
current companion, Sister Gillins, LOVES star wars! So, that is
awesome that you are doing that! How is your BoM reading going girl?!
I recently just started over! I am going to read the Book of Mormon in
3 months, while highlighting references of Christ. I am almost on 2nd
Nephi! I am reading about 7 pages a day. I lurv the scriptures! I am
also super excited for you to go on the CHT! I know that you might be
struggling with some friends right now. But, I can promise you, you
will love it out there. I struggled with the friends I was with. So, I
made new ones! I loved the CHT, and I don't think you will regret it!
Sister Ewell is so great, and will be there to help you if you ever
need it!

Nate! I love you too kid! Don't worry, I'll be your best friend :) <3
Heath is dumb anyways. Like, who comes home and gets married within a
year? that is just.. No. jk I love him. But, I am excited for you to
go back to university and party with all those crazy kids! This past
week, I have been working a lot on my bus contacting skills. To the
point, where I'll now talk to 3 different people on ONE bus! What
the?! Anyways, as I am forgetting my own self more and more, and
focusing on truly BEING a missionary, the work becomes more and more
fun! I also lurv being a missionary!
Kara! Jenny is getting Married! ah! So fun! How was disney land? and
Harry potter world? I wanna see pictures!!!! :)
Hey! Check out this facebook page! I believe it is called Friends of
Etobicoke. It is my wards fb page :)

dad! You are awesome! I love you! Thank you for your thoughts too! I
will try and make next weeks email a good one! I will let you all know
about the Ripley aquarium! we got free tickets, so it will be fun! It
will probably take me back to those scuba days! But hey dad, I was
wondering if i might be able to see your line of authority for the
priesthood? I just feel like it would be something super neat to see. :)

I love you all! I hope you have a great time out at the lake! While
you are wake surfing, just think of me, bus surfing! party hard, and
be safe! Lots of love!!

Sister Robison!

    Short one!

Short letter this week!! I"m going to Toronto! For Pday!

So we had a family home evening with investigators at a members home!! It was so awesome!! They all loved it so much!! Family home evening is so important!! It invites the spirit very very well into homes!

This week we have been traveling to Malton a lot which takes like an hour on the bus!! So we have been eating at the subway station.. :) They have really good food for cheap!! One is called Ja Patty! It's a beef patty.. i can't even explain it. It is just good!! and they have tons of pastries for cheap! My favorite is the chocolate eclair!!

It still has been raining like crazy so my hair is a big frizzy mess.. sometimes I think.. why do I even try??

I finally understand why we have baby blessings on fast Sundays!! Cause that's when family will be there and not all of them will be members, then that's when they can hear everyone's testimonies!! The gospel is perfect!!!!

That's all I have time for!! I am so sorry!! Love you all!!
    Sister G.

(her mom is adding an amazing poem/thought that Sister Gillins sent to a few of us...that has touched me alot and made me think alot about Christ and how humble and yet powerful He is. He is the perfect example to us and how he lived his life can guide us to happiness in our life...by doing just simple service everyday.) I love you Sis for sharing this!

"Father, where shall I work today?" And my love flowed warm and free. Then He pointed out a tiny spot and said, "Tend that for me." I answered quickly, "Oh no, not that! Why, no one would ever see, No matter how well my work was done. Not that little place for me." And the word He spoke, it was not stern; He answered me tenderly: "Ah, little one, search that heart of thine; Art thou working for them or for me? Nazareth was a little place, And so was Galilee"
