Week 21 - Hey All You People!

                                                                                                                             June 22, 2015

I love you!

Dad, Happy Father's Day. I have almost put a card in the mail for you. it is coming. I am sorry it will be late, but it will be good! :) But, thank you for all you do for me in my life! I love you so much! I am grateful for your example, and for all that you have sacrificed for our family! Thank you for holding the priesthood, and always being worthy and willing to utilize that power you have been given. Words cannot express how much I love and look up to you! I thought long and hard about what I could do for you. And, this is what I came up with! I am going to use those piano lessons you have payed for over the past who knows how many years, and put it towards playing prelude music for the Etobicoke ward Sacrament Meeting every Sunday to help invite the spirit! So know, that your hard work that payed for my piano lessons is now being used in such a way so that an entire ward can more readily feel the spirit. Thank you! :) I love you bunches!

This week was good, but not very eventful, so there isn't much to say. We worked harder than we have been. Things are still slow with investigators, but as we continue to work hard, I have faith that the Lord will be able to use us to accomplish the work that is necessary for us to do at this time. We were able to, through a member bringing a friend to church, find a new investigator yesterday! His name is Richard, and he is from Haiti. Our Bishop served in Haiti, and watching the two of them talk in French/Creole, was the funniest thing I have seen in a while! We are excited to keep working with him, and our bishop is excited to continue to refresh his language skills. I love watching people connect! :)

Speaking of connections, get this! So, this week, I learned something super cool. Toronto has a great history, especially in the eyes of the church! Well, this week, Sister Gillins and I arrived early to District Meeting, so we sat outside the chapel. We go to district meeting in a different chapel than we do church, so we don't have keys to get in. There is a plaque on the outside wall, and out of boredom, we started reading it. Through reading it, I learned that Marry and Mercy Fielding were both baptized in the Black creek, a creek that runs right behind the chapel. For those that don't know, I am related to Marry Fielding! Talk about walking where your ancestors have walked! This gave me a new and great appreciation for the area that I am serving in! :)

Something that I have learned this week in my studies is the importance in my attitude towards reading the Book of Mormon. I have been reading through and highlighting every time Christ is referenced. But, I began to view it more as a project than anything, and started to waver in enjoying the scriptures. However, since I have refocused my attitude on reading the scriptures because I love the scriptures and want to draw closer to my Heavenly Father, it has made it more enjoyable! I am getting more out of the scriptures. I am loving what I am reading, and I am learning from what I am reading!

I believe that is all for this week. Look on LDS.org Canada for a picture of our ward (Etobicoke ward). I believe it is cultural week or month or something along those lines for Canada, and apparently we are going to be the front page! Our ward has people from over 70 different countries. Talk about diverse! I love serving in this area, I love the food, I love the people, and I love this work, with the good and bad included! :)

Keep rocking! Stay awesome!

Much love,

Sister Robison

This plaque talks about the early saints here in Toronto!!
Raman and Mariyam at their baptisms! FInally! They are doing well. Mariyam said the opening prayer in Sacrament Meeting the other Sunday, and we are looking forward to Raman joining us soon! :)

For Mi Familia

Dad, I do want to personally thank you for that letter you sent to me around conference time. During the middle of the week, I was having a little rougher of a time, just got a little discouraged. We are working so hard, and we still don't have great investigators, and struggle with finding.. but, I pulled it out and read through it. It brought a lot of comfort and peace with it.

I recently read a talk, I can't remember who it was by, or if it was from this conference or the one previous, but it talked about Receive Revelation. It goes through and talks about how the Prophet receives revelation for all of us. Then, how a President, be it stake, mission, aux, or so on, receives revelation for those they are over. Then, it talks about how a father (as well as a mother) receives revelation for his household. I know that you received revelation when you wrote me that letter. I could feel the spirit while reading it, and I want to thank you for being such a great priesthood holder and head of the household! I hope you had a great father's day! :)

We were able to find one new investigator this week though! His name is Richard. A member brought him to church with her! We are excited to see where things lead to with him. :)

Justin, Happy fathers day to you too!
Nate, you aren't allowed to be a father for (13+9=22) at least another 2 years! (you can't get married until I return, and you absolutely cant have a baby until you are married so thats where that came from!)

Mom, there is a lady in our ward who is from toronto. She asked me to visit someone she was friends with up here. I have misplaced the paper I wrote it on. Could you ask her who it was and what her address is for me again? :)

I have decided that when I am older, and have a dog of my own, I will name it poncho.
Kara, what did you do with those dogs?!

Karly! I love efy! have fun! and soak it up! :)

Kelly, jelly, you are awesome :)

This unicorn is at one of the recent converts homes..  it stares us down during lessons! haha  I love it!

    Pray about it!!
This week has been one of the best weeks we have had here with less-active and returning members! We have had so much fun and spiritual times with them!! We were able to drop by a less-active man and his family! We were able to get to know them and connect with his daughter that is our age. He loves having the missionaries over and his family is so kind to us! Their son brought us out popsicles!! Sooooo yummy! I pray that we will be able to go over and visit again and hopefully start teaching his children about the gospel!! Then we had lunch with another part member family! They are this really cute old couple. They have the best sense of humor ever!! They had us take out the garbage for them before we ate and when we came back the old woman told us that they had moved and that they were the new residence.. we were so confused for awhile.. then her husband yelled "just let them in!" :D

This week there was almost a fight on the bus... it was pretty crazy! I was afraid it was going to get pretty nasty so I made Sister Robison sit by me.. it was sketchy! But all is well.. one of the guys girl friends made sure nothing happened.

We met with the pastor again.. it was kinda difficult.. He had a hard time listening to us. He brought up Revelations 22:18-19.. So I brought out Deuteronomy 4:2. After that they didn’t argue with us on that subject but kept trying to tell us we were wrong about something.. I’m not sure what we were wrong about.. but something. So he told us to go home and pray about all of it. I committed him to do the same. So that night I went home and prayed and asked God if all of this is true and I had the feeling that it was!! yipee! I just know from the bottom of my heart that this is all true! I have had simple but marvelous conformations of that each day this week! It has been such a beautiful thing! I hope the pastor has done the same. I pray that he has read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it so that he can get an answer himself!

A member brought her friend to church this week! He is awesome! He is from Haiti! Guess where our bishop served his mission... HAITI! They hit it off, talking in Creole and cracking jokes! It was awesome! He loved church and we were able to make him a new investigator! He is awesome!! He had some really good questions too! I can’t wait to actually sit down with him and teach him about the Restoration.

Things are amazing here!! Maybe even if things aren’t going our way we are still so happy and working hard. We are both just glad this is The Lords work and not ours.. if it was ours.. we would be toast by now!

    Love you all!!

    Sister Gillins
